RANTES - A TRIGGER FOR MANY DISEASES
New research confirms that jawbone infections (known as cavitations) produce inflammatory substances (called cytokines) that are impacted in heart disease, cancers, autoimmune, other inflammatory diseases and disability. This research was summarised at a 2011 presentation to the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) by Dr Johann Lechner DMD, a German research dentist.
Cavitations/FDOJ
Jawbone cavitations are holes in the jawbone, not cavities, which are holes in the teeth. Cavitations are dead spaces in the jawbone where bone marrow is dying or dead. These fatty degenerative dead areas also called FDOJ (Fatty Degenerative Osteonecrosis of the Jaw) are always infected and are extremely toxic. They are also the dumping ground for toxic metals from mercury fillings or toxic crowns.
What causes cavitations?
The most common causes of cavitations are improper tooth extractions (with failure to clean out the infected tooth socket adequately) and root canaled teeth (which become badly infected and very toxic). Other possible causes of cavitations include being hit in the face or gum infections. They can cause intermittent or chronic facial pain (trigeminal neuralgia) or no pain or symptoms at all which makes the inflammation they cause so silent and insidious.
Sadly, cavitations, especially from wisdom tooth removal, are the norm rather than the exception. They are a chronic stressor to the immune system and are a major cause of chronic fatigue. Having my own cavitations cleaned out a number of years ago helped reverse a declining health condition and restored my health. Now, due to scientific research, the mechanisms of how they create so much illness and disability are now being understood.
Cavitations produce Rantes
Jawbone cavitations produce a substance called Rantes. What is Rantes? Rantes (short for Regulated upon Activation Normal T cell Expressed and presumably Secreted) also known as CCL-5 (Chemokine ligand 5) is a pro- inflammatory protein that has been found in high levels in every single cavitation tested in clinical studies. Chemokines or cytokines are singling proteins secreted by immune cells to stimulate the movement of other cells i.e. Natural Killer cells. Rantes plays a primary role in the inflammatory immune response. Chronic inflammation plays a primary role in diseases of all kinds, included cancers.
Rantes and Research
If you go to Google Scholar and type in the words ‘Rantes and Rheumatoid Arthritis’, you will find 29,000 studies. If you type in ‘Rantes and Cancer’, over 64,000 studies. If you type ‘Rantes and MS’, over 68,000 studies, while ‘Rantes and Long Covid’ produces over 15,000 results. So, this is not new information. It has actually been known for over a hundred years. However, the latest scientific research methods have brought this knowledge to the fore. You can therefore see that Rantes is a major player in all kinds of illness and should be of great interest to all areas of medicine.
Rantes and Illnesses
Here is a short summary of some of the key scientific findings related to Rantes:
Cancer: According to Dr Lechner, Rantes is the starting point for any cancer. Rantes migrates from the jawbone to cancer sites round the body. It is found in malignant tumours and is considered to be a cause of Hodgkin’s disease, breast cancer, cervical cancer. It is involved in the metastasis of cancers. This should be of concern to oncologists as metastasis is a key cause of cancer death. I have often asked patients with cancer to attend to their teeth as soon as possible. Sadly, few have done so and have come back to see me when it was too late.
Heart disease: Rantes inflames the lining of the arteries and heart and causes cardiovascular disease. Why not give these patients the chance to improve their condition by proper cleaning of their jawbone?
Neurological diseases: Rantes targets the central nervous system and is able to cause Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, ALS and other neurological diseases.
Allergy/Mast cell disorders: Rantes targets mast cells, thereby causing allergies, alopecia and thyroid disorders.
Chronic fatigue conditions: Rantes is a major contributor to chronic fatigue of all kinds. Cavitations are filled with a large number of pathogens which do not need oxygen to survive. Studies have isolated viruses like Epstein Barr, Cytomegalovirus, bacterial infections like Lyme and Bartonella and immune-suppressing retroviruses in cavitations.
The Challenges
While we now have a wealth of research information implicating Rantes as a major player in serious diseases, what are the chances are that your doctor, consultant or dentist has heard of it? Not very high, I’m sorry to say. Why is this? A major reason is that dentistry and medicine don’t communicate that much. Your GP doesn’t know your dental record and vice versa. A second reason is that jawbone cavitations are often ‘silent’ causing no local symptoms. So why would anyone both to consider the jaw as a factor for illness? A third reason is that jawline cavitations don’t always show up clearly on routine X-rays so routinely get missed.
You can do something about it
The repercussions of silent jawbone infections can be so serious and far-reaching that they should not be ignored. Ideally, dentistry should move into the medical arena where it can play a proper preventative and treatment role in chronic degenerative illness. However, we know from history that life-changing medical reforms can take decades to assimilate into standard practice.
Therefore, to help alleviate current suffering, people need to educate themselves about silent jawbone infections and how these can occur. A good place to start is the Patient Education video series online by Dr Blanche Grube, a Biological dentist. Biological dentistry is the branch of dentistry that recognises that anything that goes on in the mouth and jawbone has a profound effect upon the rest of the body. Biological dentists have been trained by the IAOMT (International Academy of Medicine and Oral Toxicology) to safely and effectively diagnose and treat jawbone holes. Proper pre and post surgical nutritional support can allow proper bone healing to then take place.
I have been sending patients to Biological dentists for years to help improve their physical condition. I regard oral health as so fundamental to general health that I am writing a book on the subject for the public to read. Hopefully, this may help prevent unnecessary suffering and premature loss of life.
Fortunately, the tools are available for people to address oral health, if they wish to. There is a list of Biological dentists I have compiled in the UK. A blood test for Rantes is now available which I routinely do with patients.
